Rugby Refs of NY FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Category: Main -> Club Guidelines
| Answer | · Match Day Requirements
- Upon arrival, the referee should be approached by the appropriate person, and the referees game-day expenses (gas, tolls, train ticket, etc.) should be provided - this is usually between $20 and $50, but may be more.
- Additional to expenses, a $50 per match fee should also be made available to the referee, either by cash, check, or school voucher.
- The field should be properly lined to IRB specifications, but a minimum length of 80m and width of 60m should be available. If the club has not received exemption from the RRSNY, they should expect that the referee will not referee the match, but instead forfeit in favor of the visitors.
- There should be sideline ropes in place. If at a venue where this is not feasible, arrangements should be made to have club members place cones 5m from the touchlines, AND make sure this is maintained.

| | · What are our clubs obligations for providing referees? Senior Clubs need maintain a group of certified referees to be able to referee 6 matches in each season (Fall & Spring).
Inability to do this, will result in a lower priority for referee assignment to your matches.
A Club that produces a full-time referee (almost every weekend, Fall/Spring), will be exempt from this requirement for the first 3 years of that referee's career.
